Learn to become a Good Samaritan...

Experiences received from Sacred Heart Leprosy Hospital

We, deacons, have been really benefited by this two days programme. It was well organized. Fr. Maria Francis animated us with enthusiasm. The first day began with an introduction and spiritual talk. This section was more practical and spiritual Orientals. At 11AM Dr. Supramanian gave an awareness talk about various deceases and the origin of the deceases. He also cleared all our doubts and gave some precautions of the deceases.

In particular, when we had time visit the people who had affected by the disease called ‘Leprosy’, we were really moved by their rich experience. They shared their past life very openly with us. Some of them made us feel very happy by their kind words. Moreover, they had shared with us their past life when they were rejected, ignored and abandoned by their own parents, relatives. Since they were affected by Leprosy, they had faced lot of challenges, difficulties, hardships and mental agony in their life.

At 12AM we visited all leprosy patients and had intentions with them.
At 2.30 we had cultural programme and conducted some programmes to them.

On Tuesday we had a major text which really helped us to know our health condition. Then at 9AM we had spiritual talk on finding our charism and at 11am, another section based on the spiritual life modeled the life of St. Maria Vianney.

Afternoon at 3pm we had video clips on Eucharist followed by that we had adoration.
Those two days helped me to serve the people with commitment and conviction. When people are rejected, marginalized, ignored and isolated, as our master Jesus Christ had, we must have concern and love for them.

It was very useful and inspired to think about our future ministry. We thank Fr. Maria Francis (Director of Sacred Heart Multispecialty Hospital) and Rector who arranged this two days recollection with leprosy people.
