What Easter is
The blood stained Cross,
The crown of thorns;
The empty tomb and the burial cloth.
Today…the signs are…
Colored eggs and chocolate bunnies,
A rainbow of jelly beans.
Chocolate rabbits,
spring flowers pretty and
Baskets full of candy.
But how many truly know
What Easter Is.
It is a time of renewal and new life
as it happens every spring.
Blooming flowers, singing birds, and
Gentle rain signal the season of spring,
A season of newness, freshness
And brightness.
Winter’s over it shows,
And spring has come.
Easter too…
Is a time of happiness and newness,
Because, Jesus is risen and
death no more prevail.
The God who suffered for you and me,
The God who was crucified for you and me,
The God who bore the wounds of our sins,
The God who carried the weight of our faults,
The God who died for you and me,
The God buried in the tomb for you and me,
Is risen indeed to give new life
For you and me, and for the world;
To show the way to the Father,
To love and forgive as God’s children
To be merciful and forgiving as Jesus is
To live new life as a people of hope.
JESUS IS RISEN INDEED
For we are disciples of the risen Jesus.
Halleluiah the happy song we sing.
Therefore…
A time of hope it is
And a day of rebirth and renewal.
The Easter celebration end not here.
It signals a new beginning
And brand a new life,
True friendship, peace, and
Life-giving its mission.
Indeed the Easter spirit is all about
Hope, love, and joyful living.
